Less than 15k miles oil service question

My car will be a year old in april '10 and only have 7k miles so far, will the dealer do my one year oil change even though I only have 7k miles on my car? I was going to do the it myself but I figure save some money if the dealer will do it.

They have to change it if you request it. It's called 'low mileage oil change'. Just keep in mind they won't reset the computer, to avoid other services coming due early.

I'm seriously thinking about doing the oil change myself as well; I'm at 4K and 2 months away from my first anniversary, but car will be 2 years old at the same time, so it's due for an oil change and brake fluid. Still debating if I want to do both myself . The only tech I trusted died on a motorcycle accident, plus don't get a loaner (and dealer is far away), so I'm on the fence.

For those that have done this, or OP - is the one-year interval from original purchase or from the 1200 miles service date?

I would say both. I got the car beginning of Apr. '09 and went back for my 1200 mile service in mid May '09.
