Republicans are not a monolith. Many opposed the bill Romney signed in MA.

FWIW, I seem to recall a candidate who opposed them as well.

Scott Brown, the popular new republican senator from MA seemed to like it, he voted for it. And btw Romney is likely to be your party's presidential nominee in 2012.

The only resistance that I've heard from people on this overhaul is from people who are already sorted out. Of course you don't care for things to change...you've already got what you need.

Pretty soon Obama will make the jump from socialism to preaching communism and the command economy! I cannot wait to see a GOP majority after the midterm elections, at least our government will then have some reasonable balance and the veto point in the hand of the Grand Old Party. So now, all of us hard working Americans have to work even harder so all the welfare junkies and lazy ass motherfuckers can get obama subsidized health care. Sweet. I did not make any mention of TRICARE or NAF. The legislation you linked provides no specific mention of the VA healthcare benefits, whereas it specifically outlines the DoD TRICARE and NAF plans. I have VA healthcare because I am a veteran not a DoD employee or servicemember on active duty or serving in an active reserve component.

Therefore, the President has instructed that its consideration be dropped. With all due respect gota stand up for my vet brother, umm he did not call anyone an ignoramus, he was called one. I understand how this legislation does not in black and white say that the VA care will suffer, but those who have tried seeking VA help know that in some way shape or form things will get harder for us. Dealinf with those people is like swimming against a current. I am just waiting to see what happens in the near future not that obama " forced it down our throats" as stated by the media.

How can you know something, before it happens?

I do some IT side-work at a VA hospital, and from what I hear from people there, VA healthcare is a complete clusterfuck as is. So why don't you wait and see before starting the mass hysteria? Or you are shooting from the hip and completely dismissing the chance of improvement?

Werd. I'm well over 10% disabled (cutoff), so I'm cared for until I die through the VA, whether my visit is service-related or not. It's a nice system to use if you don't need the problem addressed for months, but I'm so happy I'm carrying my BCBS PPO through my employer for a couple hundred a month anyway.

IIRC, the VA in SD didn't seem as bad as I had always heard about them being prior to my first visit. Then I tried accessing the system in Chicago. Brother, if you think the SD system is a clusterfuck, there are no words in the English language that can describe what it is here at Hines.... I almost feel obligated to use my civilian insurance as much as possible, as I'd be stealing an appointment slot or face time with a doctor from someone who really doesn't have another choice.

I personally don't hold this reform in the highest regard, as I feel there were areas that weren't addressed as well as they should be.... But a point most of us can probably agree on is that something had to be done, and no one outside the gub'ment has the capacity or wherewithall to do anything about it. Only problem with that is, after witnessing firsthand how slowly and compromisingly (ty bipartisan politics) that machine moves, I'm afraid the necessary tweaks and changes aren't going to happen in a proper timeframe, and will never fully address the issues.

That's all speculation on my part though, and I'm no expert. From where I sit, all I can do is hope that our civilian health system doesn't turn into the VA. I'd like a positive outcome as much as anyone here, but can we really expect government to right the ship? Only time will tell.

When did health care become an entitlement? why not make the gym a pre-requiste to the entitlement. If the unhealthy patient that are not genetic in origin are required to hit the gym for 45mins daily, I will consider giving some of my tax money for their health care. Ridiculous.

I want to see this guys face when he comes to the hospital and someone tells him that he is not entitled to receive any care

If you aren't familiar with Yahoo Finance and it's stock boards, you should know that there are morons infesting it, and it's pretty easy to pick out who those are. You begin reading the guys comment and you say "wow, that's some pretty funny sarcasm". And then you realize that he's serious at the end. That's what you call an outlier, much like the Democrat that posted that racial slur on his Facebook page is an outlier. You didn't see me commenting on it, because I am rational and I know that this is not how the Democratic party acts as a whole. I didn't use it as a generalization to smear your party.

Whereas liberals on this board enjoy talking about Obama's coined term "Buckwheat", Scott Garrett citing a fake memo, the "tea party" protesting Republicans, and Ann Coulter, the Republicans on this board are scared about our future outlook, and we enjoy talking about Obama's policies and how they have the potential to worsen this country.

At this point in the game, the Republicans have something genuine to worry about, whereas the liberals must side with their chosen leader Barack and smear the Republican party as a whole by talking about the 'poisonus bitch' Ann Coulter and other items of little importance.
