I have a question regarding these rearview cameras. Do i need to get the multimedia kit as well? I already paid for the factory '08 style 6fl solution and would want to avoid doing it all over again. Basically, I just want the rearview mirror.

Yes, you still need to get the interface module - it will allow you to display rear view on your screen. Your 6FL is just for an audio, not the video, and you can still keep the 6FL option with multimedia kit installed.

That's in the globe box, 5 & 6 series has empty space in the glove box for iPod interface or CD changer but 3 series doesn't have that space so it needs to be mounted somewhere else..
