Static straps on exhaust

I recently switched my oem axleback for an aftermarket one and was wondering if if was REALLY necessary to use the straps. I would use them but there is no place to secure them on the new mufflers.

More than static, I think they're for extra protection in case rubber hangers fail, no? But either way, they're unnecessary IMO. Never seen them on any other car, for starters. And if hangers fail, rear hangers are within a metal bracket, so muffler wouldn't fall to the ground anyway. I wouldn't worry about it.

For what its worth, the instructions I recieved with my aftermarket exhaust said to leave them off.

I was wondering about that too....but the RPi exhaust I put on had the straps included on the muffler assembly so I just installed them...

Garage List
Yeah they are not needed as everyone has said. This is what I use for 'real' anti-static straps.
