WTB 2009 E90 M3 - where to search?

The subj says it all. I tried Kijiji and autotrader.ca with no luck - the only one I saw asked close to MSRP of a new one . There is plenty south of the border at really good prices, but I want to try local first. Any ideas?

I tried the used market for a few months....auto trader, this board, bmw website pre-owned search across Canada (I know Parkview has a nice '08). I could not find any at a reasonable price....bought new, waiting for delivery.

Good luck.

Lugainy, how much below MSRP can one get a new 2010 model since 2011 are coming very soon? I am pretty sure you did the research before ordering yours.

I would imagine if you can find a 2010 there will be decent discounts, I noted they just dropped the 2010 rates to 4.9% but I am not sure of the factory rebates, I ordered mine in December and am still getting a 2011. I believe production for 2011s starts next week (week 9). Mine is week 10

If you are to find a 2010 it will already be produced...or just coming off the line today.....it will be an order that was cancelled or dealer stock which seems rare around here.

On a 2011 I received a $3K (i.e. 4% discount), I noted on the board many have done even better.

I found two 2010 exactly as I want them in dealers stock, but but both are out of state. Toronto dealer promised to get back to me with the prices the first week of March, as he expects some cash incentives then. My problem is that I see no extra value in having a new car (an I am saying this after drying my 335xi from the factory in Munich), but buying new always has a premium. Too bad market for M3s is so small in Canada so it is a pain to find a used one... The US used market looks so much better.

Let me know if you decide to go the US route - we can compare notes. I have already imported one car from the states. It was piece of cake, but I was actually driving the car and bringing it together with me while immigrating, so no fees and no transportation issues...

hey Max, how are you not subject to fees while immigrating into Canada? I ask because my brother, who recently moved back to Toronto from the US is going through the same process, but is under the impression he has to pay the import fees... thanks

If you are landing as a permanent resident or citizen for the first time, you do not pay any duties or taxes on anything you bring with you, as long as it is legal in Canada and you owned it for over a year before moving. I believe it is similar for returning residents, but there are more requirements in terms of how long you had to be away etc. I am not 100% sure about returning residents though.

Anyway, you can call Customs regarding GST and the duty, and Revenue Ontario regarding PST, and check with them - they are very easy to deal with and know the answers. One warning though - people in the registration office (not sure how it is called - like DMV in the US), are not as knowledgeable and may try to charge you something you do not owe. I had to call Revenue Ontario and give my phone to the clerk so that they could explain her why I did not need to pay PST.
