R-Compound Tire Summer Street Use?

So I'm thinking of just using a set of DOT Legal R-Compounds all summer this year..
a) How stupid am I? (Please let me know if this is a really bad idea)
b) Will I die in the rain?
c) Can I get 10,000km out of a set with mild street driving and ~4 light track days?

Oh I am thinking of buying either Michelin Pilot Sport Cups or Pirelli P-Zero Corsas. Choosing these because they look like they at least offer some rain protection.

In Europe I know they offer some P-Cars, M-Cars, AMG standard with Pilot Sport Cup+ R-Compound for street use. I dont think nanny safety regulations would allow it in US/Canada.. But if they allow it in Europe, I am assuming it's safe if you're careful in the rain?

you won't get 10k street miles out of them. 4 track days is already 50% of the tires life.

If you did just drive them on the street, they'd get hard as rocks over time anyway from the cold weather and most of all heat cycling them.

There's really no point. Unless you get them warm, they will not perform better than summer street tires like Advan Neova AD08's, Bridgestone RE-11's, or Dunlop Star Specs. They will also heat cycle out and lose their grip after one season sitting outside, in the sun, etc.

The ones you list are pretty mild R-compounds and should perform well on the street, but they are really meant to be used on the track and get you to and from the track.

i ran Toyo RA1's on my M5 one summer, i think the new one is RA888 or something like that. they stuck like glue but wore out quick, and in the rain you had to be careful but my M5 had alot of tq so maybe the M3 won't be so bad like it was for me. fun while it lasted but i wouldn't do it again bc i only got the summer out of them lol. and i mean summer as in 2 months lol. good thing they were half the price of the PS2 Cups or similar
