60-130mph starting in 3rd Gear

plugged in the vbox...did 1 run...started in 3RD gear because my tires are halfway bald and its been raining in LA...even in dry dry weather im sliding at top of 2nd gear and into 3rd

60-130mph was 8.8sec

i know i can do much faster if i start in 2nd but as i said above tires halfway gone...so when my new tires come...ill post up some much better times..

also...its a friends vbox...so i know there are no graphs posted to verify...when i give him the box he'll get em for me...i dont have the cords to hook up to the comp...a few guys around here know me and know im not a bullshiter( hopefully thats good enough for now).

That's pretty quick Sammy!! What do you reckon your time would be with a change? Are you running a DCT?

I'd say sammy with the right tires will hit somewhere to close to 8.1-3

Nice run sammy!

im not into that...i like having the competition of biglaire and eugene...all running similar boost 5.5-6.0 ...so im gona try and get the best times at these levels...i just need new tires asap...and ive had the vbox n my car for a week havent done any runs...was around 130am last night driving and said to myself why not try a 3rd gear run, and the place seemed like it had a minimal decline..so...sent files to drew

The only way you'll get into trouble (called BS) is if you start doing things to manipulate the results, such as change tire compounds, increase your boost, change to race gas, go out of your way to find the perfect -3% downhill grade, or make a comparison between 6MT and DCT without mentioning the 1.1 second DCT advantage. Those are the types of things that people will point to and say BS and could possibly lead to one of those big contentious forum debates.

Use Larry's 60-130 example. List everything about the car that you can think of -- including the 20" wheels and stock rubber if that's what you've got (that's what Larry had).

Check with Drew, I think he should be able to generate the graphs for you. If Drew, or anybody else in your area can't help, you can send me the files and I'll generate the graphs for you. Just let me know.

Sammy nice job improving your time! Practice does help and I actually actually got in a couple runs before the rains came to Phx. I'll get the graphs and try to post tonight, but if not then tomorrow for sure!

Larry, did you do any 3rd gear runs and are you having traction problems at all?

I have tried several different types of runs, but traction is always an issue.

He started in third gear, DCT redlines in third gear much earlier than 109.

Are you gonna try some different rims/tires?

Yes, I want to try some different wheels and tires. Not only is my setup too big, 20", it is very heavy. I weighed my rear wheel/tire to be 50 pounds!
