When writing aftermarket performance software for NA or for FI you need to have a file for each version of BMW's factory software as all of these software versions are different. Every vehicle and ECU we recieve is scanned to verify software version before we install a file. We then use the file that has been designed for that factory version of software. In a case where we get a new version in we have not seen we write a brand new file based on the changes BMW has made.

It is always best to have your car updated the most recent version of factory software before installing NA software or a supercharger system. Also in relation to DCT operation the DCT control unit and the ECU communicate with each other. The DCT depends on information from the ECU to operate properly. If the DCT recieves information from the ECU that it does not agree with it can cause performance issues.

Dinan is releasing a new "MIPP" file this week that addresses the FC2B29 fault code which has shown up since ISTA/P 2.33 was released.

All this trouble because cars now have computers with software. Just think about the day that hacks figure out how to send viruses to cars.
