I just built one in the order system and the only option under the ZCP code is for EDC. The other items listed in the official release (359 wheel etc) will probably be added soon. Cheers

BMW maybe did not want to spend much money on making the M3 better, and ZCP was enough to improuve M3 for little money and still make it better than C63 AMG and RS5.
But I think they still could take some other parts from the M3 GTS:
>brakes
>titanium exhaust
>BMW Performance seats in M3 style
But I remember the interview with the boss of BMW Performance: maybe they are preparing some parts as for example:
>brakes
>exhaust
>coilover
>carbon intaike with KN filter (as there is for X30i E8X/E9X)
>carbon parts (mirrors, lip/splitters, diffusor, spoiler, interior trim)
>gloss black trim
>short-shifter-kit (for 6MT as there is for X30i and X35i E8X/E9X)
>lightweight front seats

Well we'll see.
The M3 GTS MSRP is $170k

This Competition package is only $2500. Do you really think they will add anything else? Wheels are already around that much. If they add even a few parts from above, the price will be ~ M5 territory.

Disappointing. But I guess they can't go above and beyond w the options bc then that will take away from the GTS. Id do it if I had the oppurtunity to order a car from th factory, but I wouldn't feel as though I'm missing out if I already had one.

FAIL

I was hoping at a minimum, the European "Edition" treatment with mentioned suspension and software tweaks.

Weak ZCP. Weak.

Will check in for how much those 10mm lower springs are. I feel my car could use some lowering, but I still need clearance for where I live.

I found that on the BMW UK website - the competition package is 3,315 GBPounds!

That to go with the price of the standard M3 coupe at 50,050 GBPounds

You guys in the US have got it lucky.

If to look at the RS5, I think in Europe it will start at 80.000 €. So there is place for some M3 GTS parts.
But then, why isn't there any Alcantara polster? You can get this in an Audi A3 S-Line which is even not an S3.

Well I have here the German pricelist from Bimmertoday.
http://www.bimmertoday.de/wp-content...nd_03_2010.pdf

So for M3 no LED Headlights, no Alcantara polstery and no matt paint. I do not see the point of Competition package.
How is the M3 more trackable?

As for BMW Performance parts, there are only CF mirrors.

EDC does not require ZTP, it has been a stand alone option since introduction in the USA. MDM requires ZTP.

And according to the German pricelist there's no "modified" DSC, so much less MDM is required to implement this package. So this new EDC setting could be implemented in a new button without even changing the wiring if what we are talking about is a new fourth setting and not a firmer Normal and/or Sport current setting.

There are a lot of changes coming from BMW starting this March...

Link to all these changes for the 2011 models (including the M3) in the "official" BMW press release:

https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/press...tem=node__2222

The 2011 M3 Competition Package is mentioned near the bottom of the page.

Just to refresh your memory...

Quote:

2011 M3

The M3 Coupe, Sedan, and Convertible models become 2011 models this spring. BMW ups the ante on the M3 Coupe and Sedan by offering a new “Competition Package” for MY2011. The package further enhances the highly responsive chassis by installing a 10mm lower suspension and 19” wheels with greater offset for a wider track. Combined with remapped Electronic Damping Control and Dynamic Stability Control systems, the M3 with Competition Package is the best handling production M car ever built.

The MSRP of MY2011 M3 Sedan, Coupe, and Convertible remain unchanged at $56,275, $59,275, and $67,925, respectively. All prices include $875 Destination & Handling. The Competition Package is available on the Coupe and Sedan models for $2,500.

Right. I wasn't saying that EDC required ZTP - in fact if you look at the post of mine you replied to, I specifically mentioned the stand alone EDC option.

Hmm, I think I see where my words tripped you up. Let me try to rephrase the part of my post you bolded in your reply:

If this ZCP package does not require ZTP, then I am a bit confused how the enhanced DSC will manifest itself. Without ZTP, you have DSC on and DSC off and that is all. Irrespective of wheels offset and track width etc, those two modes are pretty clear cut, IMHO. In other words how do you enhance "OFF" and "ON"? Therefore, I think this ZCP package must require ZTP, and the enhanced DSC mode will be in the form of a reprogrammed MDM. Thus, EDC will already be included and thus cannot be factored in as part of the ZCP price.

Clearer now?

Having said all that, one more intriguing possibility came to mind. What if the ZCP includes the non-MDrive-dependent MDM mode that the M3 GTS supposedly has? If that is the case then everything would make sense. And, that would also make this package a lot more attractive since it would give you MDM without the need to order ZTP. I am pretty skeptical of this possibility, but it would be great if true.

Quote:

The German package is different though - 7MA vs. ZCP. Not that that guarantees that the two are different animals by any means. I am merely saying that the German info does not necessarily reflect what will happen in the US.

At this point I highly doubt there is a new EDC setting (or new DSC setting for that matter). Instead, the current EDC Sport setting has been retuned to be more aggressive, IMHO. Same would apply to the enhanced DSC if that exists. I.e. MDM is now more aggresive (allows more slip/car rotation/etc.).
