Arrow Awesome Video on Why/How You Should Bed-in Your Brakes (Even for Street Cars)

(I was going to post this in the Track or Brakes sub-forum for the track junkies, but on second thought I think that all M3 owners should know this.)

Do your brakes squeal?
Do they not have enough bite?
Do they fade?
Do they vibrate/crack after the track?

Watch the video to find the answer:
http://www.essexparts.com/learning-c...rs/post/Bed-in

Left: brake disc before bed-in. Right: brake disc after bed-in. Notice the blue-gray color.

Also an article on how to choose brake pads:
http://www.essexparts.com/learning-c...ose-brake-pads

Note: these (AP Racing related) videos/links were actually originally posted by a StopTech employee on M3forum, that's how great they are

quite useful indeed - I remember doing this with new Pagid Blues on my TT - Did it at night, the split-second sparkle-beam passing by from the front pads was awesome

yup. i believe so. you can always add more pad material to the rotor.

I think that may depend on the type of pad material that is already on the rotor vs the pad material you want to deposit. A carbotech salesperson told me that not all pad materials are compatible, and that it might be difficult to remove certain "aggresive" pad materials without sanding/machining. I don't know how true that is. I have used RS19 pads to get XP12 material off, and that didn't seem to be problematic.

very nice isn't it also true that you should not wet your rotors when they are hot/driven all day????(because they can warp)
