M-DCT question!

Something I've been wondering for some time now but never really asked anyone so im asking now.

Whenever I park my car, i drive in to my garage push the leveler to the left, N (neatural) pops up, E-brake, Stop engine, Take out key, Then the car automaticly goes into P (park).

Why can't I select P when the car stands still with engine on? Am I doing something wrong here?

Thanks

No.. that's just how the car is designed... Our DCT M3s only goes to P when you switch the car off. It will stay in P again when you start the car until you shift it to another mode (e.g. D or manual drive)

I've been told the car slides into 1st gear once u shut it off for safety per cautions

I know the smg for the e46 m3, m6, and m5 stay in N and will roll if u dont pull up the E-Brake.

so bassicly theres no way to put it into Park, just leave it in gear or N and pull ur e-brake

I'm trying to take the P off, anyone know how?

btw, do not throw your car into N and shut it off, it will hurt ur car, its been tested but on slower then rolling speed thank gd!

But it doesn't show that 1st gear goes in after i shut it off though. Does the car go into 1st gear by itself right after the moment you shut it off?

What do you mean trying to take the P off?

Oh so its not good to put it in N and then pull E-brake and then shut the egnine off? So what your saying, since the car itself goes into 1st gear after shutting it off, is it better to stop car in 1st gear, pull E-brake and then shut it off? Since the engine will go into 1st gear anyways after shutting it off.
