M3post member Michael Cooper, CTS-V challenge standout, invited to BMWNA for present

Check this out - Michael Cooper (the///Mthree) who drove his M3 sedan and nearly won Bob Lutz's CTS-V shootout challenge was invited to BMWNA in NJ and met with the BMW Performance brand manager (Eric Riehle) and M brand manager (Larry Koch). Lucky guy received a tour of the facilities and received a BMW Performance steering wheel for his efforts. They even installed it in his M3 for him while he got to drive a full performance parts 335i sedan.

Said Larry Koch: “I’m excited to present the BMW Performance Steering Wheel to someone who can truly appreciate its high tech features,” said Eric Riehle, BMW Performance brand manager. “This product is a must-have item for any motorsport enthusiast seeking that extra edge. Michael is exactly the type of client for which BMW engineered this product.”

In regards to his driving skills in the recent GM’s challenge, Larry Koch, M Brand Manager, BMW of North America said: “I was not surprised to see young upstart Michael Cooper putting away even an experienced jet-jockey like Bob Lutz at the track. Michael’s M3 Sedan is a car that will make the most of any driver’s skill, and Michael deserves recognition for his focus and consistency behind the wheel.”

I have always had my eye on that steering wheel and It was awesome of BMW to reward me with it for representing the M3 well in the challenge. So far the steering wheel has been everything I expected it to be. The shift lights are awesome! Matt, Eric and Larry really showed me what BMW was about yesterday when I showed them my floormat had no velcro on it and it likes to slide foward. They told me I was not leaving here with that floormat even if they had to take it out of one of their own cars. After a short search and no sign of a new ///M floormat that would fit my car, Larry took the M floormat out of his person car and put it in mine.

I want to thank Matthew Russell, Eric Riehle, Larry Koch and everybody else at BMW for the experience and reward yesterday provided.

I wish Nissan did this. I feel quite confident I drove my old Frontier like they never thought any one would attempt to.

Good on BMW for reckonizing that Micheal had the balls to go and stand up against the full brunt of the GM media core.I think it was the least they could do as he represented the M3 owners & brand very well!

this is awesome. I wish BMW did more things like this.. work with their customers and do stuff. It feels like BMW is just looking out for themselves lately and just selling you a car.
