oem cai system

This is probably old news to many here on the forum, but to those like myself who own their first bmw M3 E90.

Yesterday i decided to install my afe cai system with air scoops, iwas amazed by the sophisticated design of our cai system.

I only knew of the two inlets
one on the hood of the car and the other the front grille area where the scoops are installed (ram air). As i took the cover and oem air filter element out, my eyes fell to the bottom of the air filter housing near the front of the driver side wheel well where there is another inlet area where outside air enters the air filter housing via the frt spoiler on the driver side.

Thought the new 1st time owners would appreciate such a sophisticated cai system.

BTW pretty hard to notice a difference in the new afe cai with scoops since the system in oem form is already a excellent system, maybe i will notice something after i go with the AA signature exhaust and tune.

cheers.

Which is exactly why I don't understand why people add scoops...

Well urban legend if i would've checked prior to buying the afe element i wouldn't have gone with the scoops.
But like i said im a rookie when it comes to these cars, prior cars were a srt8 jeep gc, and A3 audi.
Still a good point at the most all one would need is a better element then the oem, and or carbon housing vs oem to keep the temps down, wich im sure dont differ a whole lot.

To achieve 100+hp/liter output in NA engine, it does require good intake/exhaust system to support its high efficiency.

This is why you have to be very careful what you do with your intake system because BMW has put many hours on R&D on air flow.
