Or you could wait for the 2011 to come out and buy a 2010 off the lot at a steal

If you are genuinely interested in one and inquire about it at your dealer, you will get the info. I don't know how else you can get proof. BMWNA would never tell you that info on their website, right? Your dealer is the one ordering the car, they know what's going on.

I wasn't thinking resale value would be that different - but I guess when you put that way it's really a no-brainer.

Another SA (I don't really trust his sales techniques) mentioned a price increase in Mar. Not sure if he knows or is just trying to gen sales - but I suspect he's right. |

This is the quote from my SA, "The M3 is going to be in the 2011 model year in March 2010. Its a bit of a strange thing to do, but they have moved everything forward. So instead of the model year changing in September, its now March this year!"

If you are unsure of anything, make him put it in writing, and the difference is to be made up to you by whomever the power he serves may be. If he can do that then the crap is pretty much true
If he can't, well then tell him he is full of the shiz and get your 2010. PS are you navy? |

You're forgetting that if the M3 is a 2011, then so will be the 3 series also. As far as I know, no one is claiming that only the M3 would get the MY 2011 label. That wouldn't make sense since it gets fewer changes than the 3 series its based on.

2011 in March?
Quote:
"Just as the BMW 3-Series Coupe and Convertible are due for a facelift, so are the high-performance M3 Coupe and M3 Convertible, both of which have been captured once again testing in prototype form. The only noticeable difference is the slightly revised tail lamps, which get new LED elements. Most of the visual changes will take place inside, and will include improved trim, a new center armrest and a second-generation iDrive system with four selector buttons for commonly used features such as the stereo. The iDrive system should also feature a new 8.8 inch LCD display and an optional 80 GB hard drive music and navigation system. Power levels will remain unchanged, meaning the high-revving 4.0-liter V-8 from the current model will carry over with a peak output of 420 horsepower. One possibility is the addition of fuel-saving engine stop-start system, though BMW is yet to make any announcements of such a move for its M cars. Expect the facelifted M3 range to debut as 2010 models at next year’s Detroit Auto Show in January." --M-Series.com

(On the other hand, sometimes information that does not mention the M3, but only mentions the 3 series, turns out to apply to both also, yes.)

Huh? The 2009s already adopted the 2nd generation iDrive and the new multi-button controller.
In my opinion there won't be Stop-Start on an engine/transmission combination that wasn't designed to accommodate it to begin with either. Quote:

Are you basing this solely on what happened to the E46, or are there other examples? Perhaps BMW found it a huge hassle having a 2010.5 and have learned from their mistakes, with just enough cosmetic changes / parts to justify a new model year.
