TE37 in Gun Metal or OEM M6 Wheels?
So I'm trying to get my car ready for the winter. I have sold my two sets of aftermarket wheels so I am looking to buy another set of wheels for my winter tires. Which one of the following would you prefer?
1. OEM M6 Wheels 2. VOLK RACING LE37T refinished in Gun Metal (powder coat) ![]() Both of these are forged rims and they are comparable in pricing (the TE37 is obviously more expensive than the M6 wheels after refinishing) and weight. The TE37 will require a set of 10mm spacers front and back to bring them out to M3 offset.

forgot to add that the LE37T will need 10mm spacers front and back to bring them to M3 offsets, whereas the M6 wheels won't need any spacers.

They're cheaper, very easy to clean, and easily replaceable if nessesary. Besides, the wheels are going to be used for winter duty anyway. The wheels will be subjected to very harsh conditions for several months. Why spend more money than you have to? Save the extra cash you were going to spend on the Volks.

The TE37s are lighter, but for winter, my priorities would be durability, snow/ice build-up, and price.

Durability would be my concern too. The good thing about Seattle is that we do care about the Salmon population here and don't use salt in the winter, so there's less corrosion to the undercarriage and the wheels.

Truth is, the M6 wheels will be about 600-800 dollars cheaper than the TE37s. The refinish in gun metal is about 400 and the spacers are 200 front and back. They are not signifcantly more expensive than the M6 reps and are far lighter and stronger than the M6 reps.

Are OEM M6 wheels really that much cheaper than TE37s? I thought most of BMWs higher end OEM wheels are quite pricey.
Unless you're referring to M6 replicas or buy them used. |
