Not true. I have two friends with Lingenfelter 427 TT's and they walk busa's on the highway. Video's of 'em can be found on youtube.

I think for a ROAD CAR, you reach a point of diminished return. IMHO, I think anywhere between 500-600hp and 400-500lb/ft torque is perfect. Anything more is unusable excess.
But I'm sure as the tire compounds improve and suspension setups continue to improve, I may change my mind in the future. I used to think 400hp was more than enough...

well techincally this is faster than the F22 anyways :P

How do you know? The top speed of the F-22 (and the F-15 for that matter) is still classified. I think it's "officially" Mach 2+ for the F-22 and Mach 2.5+ for the F-15. Anyway, either of these would have a hard time passing emissions for road use. I mean, how could you keep that emissions measuring probe from being blown out the exhaust?

The F-22 is still a better fighter than the F-15 and the M3 is a better car than the vette.

Now that was an ignorant and completely inane comment. There are more than a few very unflattering stereotypes of BMW-owners, that I won't get into, and you seem to fit into one of them.

Classified or not, its well known F-15 is the fastest American fighter topspeed wise, 2.5+ vs. 2.25 on the F-22. Even the F-14 was faster than the F-22 at 2.34. It seems like the focus isn't on the highspeed afterburner flight anymore (F-22 can supercruise over Mach 1 without afterburners), but more on manueverabilty, fuel economy etc....

I'd compare the m3 to the F-22 for sure....and Vette, more like a Mig-25 Foxbat (mach 3+)

No matter how much you want to say that it's straight-line vs. cornering in BMW's favor, the stock C6 Z06 did a 7:43 at Nurburgring, and the stock ZR1 variant did it in 7:26, both on stock run-flat tires. No stock BMW has broken 8 minutes, even with Horst von Saurma at the wheel.

The "pure performance" argument is no contest in favor of Corvette. Ironically, Corvette also wins the fuel economy contest, and it weighs nearly 500 lbs less, with 200+ more HP at the top of the food chain, and 100 at the Z06 level. Now, if you want to talk about what is the better all-around street daily-driver, I'm with you on the M3.

I currently use an E93 M3 as my daily-driver, and I've also owned a C6 Z06, which was more trouble-free and easier to maintain than any BMW I've ever owned.

Yeah, but they can only fly 15 minutes at full power before they have to refuel.

True,
But I would wager that a professional driver would be faster around the 'Ring in an M3 than your average bloke would be in a Vette.
Sorta like Tiger Woods would still kick your butt with a 20 year old set of clubs, and you using the latest set.
My point is that these times are nice to compare and use as a general yardstick, but does not mean very much when trying to apply that to each individual.

My comment was directed at the uninformed.
