How much life are you guys getting out of the stock tires?...

I'm at 8000 miles and I have about a month left on the tires. Is this what you guys are getting?

I'm at 11k miles right now and I have a couple of months left on my rear tires (more on my front). I drive very aggressively, but have done very few stoplight burnouts. I also haven't tracked my M3 yet.

I used my stock tires on the first two track days (dry) and two other wet track days. Plus I got 4,500miles on the car. The rear - interestingly - looking better than the front. The second track session on the dry abused my front tires a lot. I estimate they will last at least 4K miles more.

My fronts look great, but the rears have maybe 5k left on them. I'm at 11.5k...guess I'm chirping the tires too much going into 2nd and 3rd .

Front: 8/32 and 6/32
Rear: 6/32 and 5/32

rears have been fairly shot since 8k still got 'em on at almost 11k. switching in a month to winters so I'm gonna stretch it just a bit more.

I got about 6500 miles and most of an autocross season. They still had a few mm of tread but were pretty well thrashed.

20k miles out of my 18 inch PS2s including 3 track days. But they are down to 2.5/32 inch at this point. I've never got much more than 10k out of a set. I don't understand how they lasted this long. I also am trying to nurse them till I get my winters on.

I also got 21k out of my 20" PS2's on my M6 Cab before I sold them with my Maya wheels, and they still looked pretty good. Just amazed me. I'm use to getting 10k max out of a set of tires.

What tires do you recommend as a good Winter Tire? What's the difference?

Honestly I was at 16K before I switched to my current set of Bridgestone RE-11s. However, I bought the car with almost 4000 miles on the clock, but I'm pretty sure they were the original PS2s. In that 16K , I participated in three track days if I remember correctly.

I'm at 17K with 4 track days. One of those days was in the wet. I usually drive pretty easy on the street except some high speed on/off ramps, but agressively on the track.

Hey folks, are the stockers (19" PS2s) okay up to freezing while taking it easy? Don't know if I should buy high-performance all-season tires or keep my PS2s until they crap out. I'll never track my car, so don't need summer max performance tires. Thx.

Same here, I am very surprised with how long my tires have lasted. Ive done 2 track day and 2 auto-x days. I have 21K miles on my 18inc PS2s. Fronts look great. Rears need to be replaced within the next 1k miles or so...
I will most likely go with PS2s again just due to the fact they lasted so long and performed very well on the track (for my driving level)

I've been below freezing with no problem. They aren't as sticky at low temps, but just drive accordingly. Keep your PS2s until they are done. Don't put all seasons on a M3, they will be a huge compromise and you will lose grip. Putting cheap tires on an M3 is like wearing 10 year old worn out sneakers with an Armani suit.

You especially don't need all season tires or anything but summer tires in El Paso.

Thanks man; will keep them then. After that, I don't know. I was talking about just the next step below 'summer max performance', which is 'ultra high-performance all-season'. More than enough for a car that won't be tracked. Following your Armani suit analogy, it'd be like wearing it to eat at McDonalds . I need something quieter man; the roar from these tires on the crappy highways here is deafening. And wouldn't mind longer tread life either. The good thing is that even when I go to the mountains, I make sure it hasn't snowed.

It's the same thing as motorcycle tires. No need to use a sport tire when a sport-touring one has all the grip you need, plus they last a lot longer. Take care, and thanks again for your recommendation.
