AFE has there hands full on this one!
I think a penlum pipe+larger penlum+a good drop in filter will be the true performance intake.

I am pleased to see the chatter about our new M3 intake system prototype. Please find below some facts about this product based on our testing completed yesterday.

Dyno Results: 15 max horsepower and 13lbs. x ft. max torque. A copy of the Dyno test result is shown below.

Dyno test was completed yesterday on our Mustang chassis dyno located here in Corona, CA. 6 passes with OEM intake and 6 passes with aFe intake. High and low was dropped out and the dyno chart listed above is a 3 run average. This is our standard testing procedure for all aFe products.

Flow Test Results: Factory intake flowed 240cfm (cubic feet per minute) @ 1.5" H2O restriction and the aFe intake flowed 444cfm (cubic feet per minute) @ 1.5" H2O restriction. A net flow gain of 85% over the factory intake. Our flow bench is an SAE certified flow bench located here in Corona, CA.

This kit comes with black powdercoated aluminum Dynamic Air Scoops, rotomolded plastic inlet tube, fabricated aluminum intake housing, rotomolded plastic intake tube, 6" PRO 5R or PRO Dry S performance filter and all hardware for a complete installation.

The air intake team working on this project included 3 engineers and 1 engineering tech. I hope this test information has answered your questions and concerns. For those of you who are interested in this product, I will extend an offer to members of M3Post. If you are in the Southern California area and want to try this product, please feel free to contact me directly and I will be more than happy to sell you one and throw in the installation and dyno testing at no charge. This product will be released in September and we will have video footage of the dyno testing up on our website (www.afepower.com) at the time of product launch.

My email is jbruce@afepower.com and my direct office line is 951-493-7147. Thank you for your feedback and consideration.
Hi I recommend you dont actually produce that "piece" but nice belated April fools joke.

I can't speak for the e9x application, but their cold-air intake for the Toyota FJ Cruiser has been great (independently dyno proven to gain hp/tq & lowered intake temps)! TRD (Toyota Racing Development) actually uses them & slaps their name on it (for the FJ Cruiser app). BTW, was told a few days ago (by an aFe employee) cost will be $950. Not sure if that meant street price or MSRP but I'm guessing the latter.

Ya, fo what they offer IMO not worth $950! IF it actually gain hp/tq, most I can justify fo their intake's ~$500 b/c of the materials they used (read: plastic & aluminum; not cf). Next time u come to Dallas, u should mos def see the intake I have!

Thats because a few of their intakes are sealed. One of sealed intakes they sell is for the FJ and other Toyota trucks.

What they keep doing is making open air intakes for BMW's. They do nothing but suck in hot air.

Over on the 5-series forum their was a mutiny on AFE and a vendor selling their intakes. All dynos done by members could not replicate AFE dyno numbers, on all E60 models including the M5. Most of the dynos actually showed a loss of hp. A huge refund program was done for angry forum members.

$950 MSRP w/ scoops. Honestly I'm not a fan of any scoops but RPi's.
