Get a 135i. Undoubtably the funest BMW in the entire range. Been driving one as a loaner for the past 6 days and I'm gonna be sad to see it go back today. With a few mods to it, it could be a fantastic car on the track. Without any mods, it's a fantastic car as a daily driver already. It's like a Mini Cooper S, just better...pure go cart for grown ups!

However, if you're into baller track toy, get the M3. If you want a baller boulevard cruiser, get the M6.

I owned an E63 M6 and just got an E92 M3. While the new ownership feeling is still in my blood, I know that after the placebo affect is gone the M3 will be the better overall car.

The M6 was the freeway cruiser for me. Mine was medium modded enginewise with pulley, RPI scoops and block offplates, BMC filters, Powerchip ECU and MeisterSeoul Exhaust (which cost me TQ). From speeds over 100 the car was lights out all the way to 190 mph and the exhaust symphony was amazing. But it was a big pig too and I didnt care so much for it in the city or from a dig. The SMG III was archaic to me, especially after picking up the GT-R. The shifts was slower and the lag was annoying at times when coasting and then needing to speed up. The lack of TQ and its weight hurt the car down low plus I was always having to drive the car at 8/10ths or better.

Having the DCT in the GT-R was the clincher for me and the M3. The efficiency in which the transmission delivers the power is excellent. The car is tossable at all points in my daily drive. Short tight corners are easily overcome and even high speed bends are comfortable and safe (where the M6 shines). Money was not an issue and I have extreme raw speed in my 997TT (modded) and GT-R (modded) but everyday driveability was missing so the M3 was the perfect add. I just feel very connected in the car not unlike the 997TT. The GT-R feels like a huge shell so the dynamics are not as prevalent. Going fast and using the power to control the chassis and incorporating the chassis feedback are key things that makes me enjoy the M3 that much more than the M6.

Its not just about speed to me, driver involvement, perfect steering, crisp brakes, etc. sold me plus the pricepoint is not bad. The amenities inside are equal to the M6 with the new I-Drive clearly making me much happier about the Nav, Ipod, Sat Radio, and other items.

Here is a pic of my old M6- looked great when sitting but the ride was not optimal (I dropped it too much). I miss the car in the straights along with the exhaust note but not much else.

the M6 stock to me is very hard to tell from a 650i aside from the wheels (which there are a million replicas out there of) and quad exhaust

They should have taken more effort to make it unique from the 645/650i... in fact the the gas consumption of the V10..the 650i appeals more to me than the m6 as a cruiser because neither are really sports cars.

If you were in my position would you buy a brand spankin' new M3 or consider a near mint, low miles M6 for about the same price maybe less than the aforementioned M3? The extra horsepower on the m6 is nice but I believe it weighs more and happens not to come in manual!! (whoever decided that should be dragged over broken glass) Anyhow, I like both and wanted to know what you guys (and girls) think. I thank you for your time and comments in advance...

M3 all the way. I had an M6 for a little over a year and I found it to be the least favorite vehicle I've owned over the past few years. It's kind of caught in no mans land, between a sport car and a big GT car. On top of the fact I think its kind of ugly (and I know ugly I just ordered an X6M).

Too big for city driving. It isn't the sexiest for sure.

really is the backseat actually bigger in the 3 series than the 6?

that's mildly disturbing on the part of the 6. how does such a big whale have such little interior space?

Is the M6 that much worse on gas than the M3? They all inhale fuel. The anti-Prius!

I was contemplating the same issue. But i decided on the m3. Trust me its much more worth ur while and a lot funner to drive. M6 is too bulky and more for an older generation. the m3 suits me perfectly and your gonna have a blast driving it. the m6 is still nice tho, it depends on your style
