How did you approach your dealer?

So i've been shopping and my friend is also shopping. She's looking at new/leftover E93's.

I basically told her to build it using the invoice price and walk into the dealer requesting to pay that much for it or a little less, and walk until she finds a dealer willing to do it.

I seriously hate the wheeling and dealing process. What have you done to help make the process faster, eliminate the BS, get the price you want and walk out with both parties content? The dealer obviously has to make some money, but it can be minimized to where the dealer is Ok with their profit.

Thanks,

I approach my dealer well educated in the state of the market and the exact details of what I want. Oh and I get a sick pleasure from haggling, which has been helpful! However, this can cause problems if you plan to take the car back to said dealer for service.

Last dealer I talked to has a new 09 priced at $66k, said they would do $1500 off as 09 incentive. I told them they would have to do much better than that. IMO it should be in $55-57K range. Guy thought i was crazy... am I?

Be prepared to draw your line in the sand and walk away from the deal!

55-57k for a brand new 09?? I'd be very surprised if you landed that.

I had a trade in too. Went to carmax and let them make an offer on my trade. Then went to Edmunds and recieved quotes. Went to the dealer who gave the best quote and had them appraise my trade in to compare it with carmax or negotiate if necessary. Dealer quoted me more than carmax and that was that.

No you guys are correct I don't expect it either at least till 2010s hit the floor. Right now you can get C63s for $14k below msrp because or dealer incentives of $7500. I got a quote for $52,680 for a brand new C63. But I really want to stick with BMW.
