My Melbourne dealership has always charged me for oil top ups...I must have put around 5 litres in it over 25,000km.

Can't remember exactly, but it is less than $50 for 1 litre, the $250 for 5 litres quoted earlier in this thread sounds excessive.

Castrol TWS 10W60 is only used on the M cars by BMW. I think the viscosity of it's different to other Castrol product. Given the high-revving nature of the M engines and also given the service intervals, this oil will be formulated to satisfy those needs. Hope someone can enlighten me!

While you're there...can you ask them if the twin turbo V8 that's in the X6 will be making it into the X5 any time soon. They have no idea here.

Shall do. As it is they are annoying me.... I've asked for an extended test drive (more then 15mins) and they keep saying that they might be able to do it for an hour or two... And for some reason it sounds like.. hmm maybe... I'll let you know... grrr

AMK - BMW Australia has confirmed they will be bringing in the X5M alongside the X6M to australia in 2010 so YES it will be coming soon. Best pre-order as it will be a niche.

Thanks for that.

I was aware the X5M was confirmed for Oz but I was wondering about the 300kW 4.4 litre twin turbo V8 that is currently in the X6 xDrive50i and whether or not there were plans to drop that into the X5. I would be extremely interested in that option. I personally don't like the look of the X5M. I prefer the subtlety of the current E70 body.

Of course, the 300kW Twin would be able to be chipped for even more grunt
