1999 m3 evo

hi can anyone help i have a 1999 m3 evo soft top, only had it for 7 days! and started it up yesterday as i was driving it the revs shot up by them selved between 1500 & 2000 rpm looks like the throttle has returned back to its resting position and the cable does not appear to be sticking? now when i start it up it carries on the same revs do not go back to idle! any tips any one? tnx
