My sub/amp installation
Okay Guys finally finished.
I couldn't find the matching carpet so i used a darker color. I have to either find the right color or take the darker color all the way back and go for a two tone look. I'm okay with that. Also still have to find a place to put the bass gain knob, hence the wiring still sitting out. The amp is a US Amps MD-1D. Its mounted upside down to display the components. I tested the amp and it runs cool all the time. The sub is a JL 10w7. The bottom, right, and back sides are fiberglass, the left, front and top are 5/8th plywood. The front piece is just a face plate for aesthetics. Needless to say, the whole thing hits hard and LOOOOW.

I understand what you're saying, but in my experience, deep bass is pretty non-directional. It "should" resonate in the trunk and come forward into the cab fairly evenly. I'm sure the is some effect, but the only time I've ever hear a difference in any of my setups is when i had a sub directly pointed into the back of a seat, and there it was mostly a difference in vibration, not sound. I ended turning that sub around since there was no room for the sound waves to expand before being muffled by the seat.
I'm sure technic has a much more factual response to this, but for my ears, I can't tell. Plus it was really important to me to keep the 60% side of the 60/40 split pass through open.

The wavelength of a bass note is actually longer than the car so where it is in the car really doesn't make a difference as long as the sub is playing only bass on not extending into the midbass region.

![]() Now, in a house -or in a big room- then you would be paying attention on sub location for best sound as several factors (distance, reverberation, cancellations) can affect how the bass sound gets to the listener. And that's if you are really fastidious about sound quality. Great installation! ![]() |

Well.. I still think I'd like the ability tweak the system alot more, but the sub at least adds a ton of UMPHH to it. Very low frequency bass is rare and is always nice to hear. The Premium package seems to keep up well in the middle to mid-high volume range. Anything past that the front speakers start to distort and quiet volumes are completely lacking clarity.
When that BitOne processor clears the bugs out.. I will consider that route.

AMJ, Morel is really nice! you're going to love those after they break in. They are my second favorite behind Dynaudio.
To the OP, how are you interfacing from the oem radio? AudioControl? Speaker level? I used to have that subwoofer. It hits HARD with the right amp. I had a 500/1 at the time. It was not musical though, just thud-thud, so I ended up getting rid of it. Try a Diamond Audio HEX 12" next time! Hits almost as hard but super musical.Personal, custom installs like this brings me back! ![]() |

Audio is going to have to wait for me...unfortunately but I have started some discussions with my installer. We'll be going with morels on the inside and jl w3's for the clarity factor. I don't want the depth and low thundering of the w7's..just some nice clean bass to support the mids and highs..
This is the project for 2010...lol a long time from now but modding is expensive when u want to do it right. -Vin |

Is there a DIY on where to tap the speaker and remote wiring for the amp for the EPS? Thanks in advanced.

I hope you guys could chime in on this for me. After looking through the threads and reading about it, here is what I've gathered to complete the installation but please let me know if I am doing anything wrong. This is on the EPS.
From the OEM Sub amp, tap the lines going to the stock subs (in the trunk) and run those to the 'main channel' on the LC6i. Then using line level cables to connect to my JL 1000/1 amp. Is it as simple as that? And if so, I need wiring diagrams so that I can get 12v battery and ground for the LC6i (do I need to wire them?) and the harness I should be tapping for the L and R sub signals (Should I disconnect to lines at the stock subs so they don't turn on?). Any pictures would be very helpful. Thanks again.

i had the e46 m3 with a box in the trunk and something underneath rattled like crazy so i was hesitant to do the same for the e92. so my question is when its hittin hard does nething rattle or vibrate loud under the rear of the car?
