E90 Side Window Shades Option

Does this option include the rear power shade?

The Build Your Own on the BMWUSA site indicates that it does, but my dealer swears it's manual side shade only.

Also, any reviews? How do the side shades look?

Thanks.

AFAIK, the rear power shade is for the back window. the shades for the rear side windows are manual.

That's correct. The rear window shade is powered and the side shades are manual (rear doors and Sedan only). There are actually 2 manual shades per side. A large one and a small one.

I have this option on my Sedan. I got it for my kid. I like it a lot. It definitely helps when the sun is bright back there. My kid manages to sleep like an angel ;-)

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the responses. Saw it in person today as I ordered my M3 (for the 2nd time) and thought it looked pretty good. Got it as should be good for the kids.

Hello there!

I;m planning to buy an M3 and was wondering if having rear power shade cost much... this option was not available in my dealer and I would like to have one installed in a car repair shop...

thanks!

Just letting you know, retrofit from the acc. book isn't the automatic one. They're fully manual (rear windshield and rear windows).

I have it on my sedan and highly recommend it if you entertain, have children, or throw your briefcase/laptop in the backseat. The automatic rear shade control is definitely a sharp feature.

I wish I had the manual side shades on my car.

Me too. I just looked at side shades from acc. book. It's really lame. Factory one is the way to go.

I wanted the factory shades, but would have had to go with the exec package ($4500) to get em. Most of the stuff in the exec package is worthless to me so meh...

What is so lame about the acc. book shades?
