Grout sponge?

Are (new of course) grout sponges the tool of choice to prevent swirl/scratch marks from the washing process? I've been washing carefully but still have very minor scratching from my wash mit. One fellow recommended this but I wanted to see if some of the pros can verify this as a solid solution. Thanks much.

use grout sponge when you regularly wash to prevent swirls? or use it with polishers to remove scratches?

Somebody had suggested to use a grout sponge in place of a wash mitt for regular washes. The claim was they are less likely to cause swirls when washing because they trap dirt better that a wash mitt. I have been wondering about this as well.

I've read many discussions on using a grout sponge and they have all been very positive toward the use of the sponges, even by very experienced detailers.

"NEW GROUT SPONGES ONLY"

Mitts = Scratches

Sponges = Scratchless

Innovative Detailing definately recommends the sponges........

Very fine pores allow for grit and dirt to be expelled from the sponge unlike the mitts that trap these contaminants.

Use a seperate sponge for the lowers and wheel well arch lips because these tend to get far more dirty.

Thanks Dave, I thought it was you who had mentioned the grout sponges.

Here is a link to a grout sponge that happens to be on sale right now.

I think I will pick up a few to add to my detailing stuff.

I've been using grout sponges for the last 5-6 washes and its true..no swirls. I do have light scratches but thats due to me not fully correcting the paint. The grout sponge works way better than the mitts and on top of that its cheaper too. I use it with the two bucket method and a grit guard

Right on, love to hear this......I have been in the Professional Detailing business for over 23 years and have done many test comparisons between the two...

Results have been proven hands down, sponges are a way better wash medium compared to mitts.....
