I hate shiny leather

Is there anyway to keep the leather from getting shiny and looking like cheap vinyl?

Keep it as clean as you possibly can. Dirt particles on the leather act like abrasives between you and the surface and they effectively polish the leather to a shine. I advise people to wipe the leather on their daily driver's with a damp cloth every 2-3 weeks. This will pick up most particles. You can also vacuum the surfaces if you have a soft bristle attachment. It helps (a lot) to use careful entry and exit procedures and avoid dragging your full weight across the leather (and the bolsters).

Another reason leather can become shiny is using too many chemicals. You can/will clog the pores of the leather and also remove all the surfactants the tannery applied.
