yellow E92 M3 in pdx?

Saw one on way home from work today. Who is it? Is that a custom paint job or special order from BMW?

Wow, I haven't heard of a yellow E92 around here, that would be sweet. The only yellow Ms I'm aware of is my mom's Phoenix, 3 or 4 other Phoenixs and a few Dakar E36s.

Ya. It was yellow with CF roof. Black 20" wheels and black side mirrors. Upgraded exhaust, springs and dark tint. Looked like a Hornet. Had Oregon CU plates.

Dakar Yellow came into Rasmussen a couple weeks ago. They offered to show it to me but I didn't have time. I'll email Scott Bradley (the SA) and find out who's it is.

Okay, got the skinny. This car was special ordered through Rasmussen. The guy originally wanted Inka Orange, but no go with AG. Special paint was $5k.

The car is going to be in a national mag, so it's been kept pretty hush-hush. Has HREs, integrated radar/laser detection, tint including windshield, etc., all done at Rasmussen.

I think I know the guy. He works at OHSU. I've got his email, so will make contact.

Update: He's not the guy I know, but I did get an email from him. He's been lurking here for a long time, so has seen this thread and others. IND was a partial sponsor on his car, so they will be using it for promotion.

The SA on this car indicated the availability of this color might be limited to a 6 month window, so you might verify.

I was able to get an allocation one through BMWNA and they were ready to build the car right away back in October. I am now getting ready to order the M Edition in Dakar Yellow since I don't have to dish $5K alone for a color. I might as well get couple of goodies for the money. Getting an allocation for one of those hopefully won't be too difficult.

Here's my old PY '03 slick top that I sold to in January. It was running around Portland here for about five years- so there's one less to your count of 3 or 4, since the car is now in Seattle. Fun color, I personally think it is the "it" color for the E46. I never warmed up to the Dakar Yellow. If I could have custom ordered a color for my new M3 it would have been something like techno violet only a little brighter.
