As mentioned above, I have camber plates available now, which we will include with purchase - seems like universally everyone wants these.
Are they race or street plates?

Race plates - to most other companies simply known as camber plates because most don't offer multiple styles. I could likely do a soft-mount with a little effort also. Not sure we will make a street plate to fit a street-diameter spring - the market is going away from that direction - there is really no need?

Don't the race plates add NVH?
I thought the GC street plates were brilliant on my e46 M3.

The do add a small amount, but not overly significant. The problem is all the companies making coilovers are starting to use proper (from a performance/racing point of view) spring diameters, so there is no longer really a market for a camber plate (typically sold with coilovers) that has a street spring perch. That is a little big of a clunky solution compared to a 2.5" spring solution.

Like I said, I can probably do soft mount plates that will include a set of spring rubbers to kill any low-level NVH issues.

James, you've alluded that this kit really doesn't need camber plates from a performance & tire wear standpoint. Care to elaborate? Does the car have a steep enough camber curve to the point where you are saying no extra camber is needed, even from an ultimate grip / lap time perspective?

EXACTLY!!! This is a tough situation. You don't NEED a camber plate, but everyone has it so ingrained that they are a must-have, that they...must-have! So I can say until I am blue in the face that if you want a street plate, save yourself the hassle and run the stock mounts that the kit was designed for, but no one is a believer.

Yes, no camber plates are needed. The pictures below are my tires after 3 track weekends, running about 4-5 heavy sessions each. I was pushing the car hard and we were taking both temps and pressures. The measurements said the camber was right, the lack of rollover over the outside shoulder says the camber is right, and the even wear (look at the wear bars and dimples - the NT-01 have a little bit different tread pattern with varying depths) also indicates proper camber. But I can guarantee that I will still have to sell them with camber plates because other systems on the market need them to be optimized...

I sent bimmerworld an email, I'm in to be a test pilot for a set. I have the stiffer rate H+R's and need a upgrade.

James,
Can you tell us what your alignment specs are on your M3 with the Motons? You were using the same specs track and street?

Thanks.

I run the toe a little in rear, zero front, no camber adjustment front, about 2deg rear. This is a basic street and track alignment - good for both.

Not yet, but this is going to be the kit I get for sure.
This it will blow everything else out of the water IMO, sure its more $$$, but the Moton shocks are that much better. I got to experience Moton first hand at Sebring.

Im just bugging James for all the details (sorry James). I might wait a bit before I order since Im running around a lot these days for work.

What is the front camber set at stock?
Do think we can get around -1.5 up front with the Motons?
Sorry for all the Qs.

At the risk of resurrecting an old thread - just wanted to say I'm getting this setup from James and having the guys at bimmerworld do the install/setup. Can't wait to see the results! I have a DE on 9/12 on the full course at VIR so I'll be able to post impressions at that time.

I did an event back in June on this config at VIR so I think I'll have a good reference point for commenting at least on feel. I don't keep up with lap times so I won't be able to provide empirical data on benefit. Besides, I hope to have a PFC front brake kit on by that time too so having two variables would probably make changes in lap times less relevant.

resurrect BarryC that's cool!

I'm very happy with this kit even more satisfied with JC, Bimmerworld and Moton for the customer service they provide.

Not surprised. I've been doing biz with James/bimmerworld for several years and they are one of the VERY few vendors that I continue to work with because they great to work with. No BS, no jerking me around about fixing problems and good advice on what works/what does not. Can't ask for much more than that!

Ok folks, I'm the newest test pilot for these. I was just at the track last weekend on stock suspension and will be going back on the 19th. All variables will be the same except for the motons! I have lap times to compare along with my highly calibrated butt dyno. May also be hitting laguna on the 14th but not yet confirmed.
