E92 18" Rear wheels on Front?

Has anybody tried their rear wheels on the front? Just wondering if I should try to get a pair to make an OEM square setup for the track.

It works.

I'm using a square set of OEM 18" rears with 275/35x18 Nitto NT-01's for track days.

No problems.

This is my daily driver set-up. It works well at the track, but rubs on the street at near full lock. Mine is an e90, though. The e90 may have less clearance. If you run track tires that aren't as tall as the stock tires, you probably won't have a problem as noted by JAJ.

Thanks guys. I'm assuming I would need 5mm spacers for the rear then so that the front didn't end up with a wider track.

You can run a spacer in the back but there's no "need" to. Its fine with just the regular bolts.

In fact, one of the reasons I went with the OEM rims was so I could use OEM bolts to hold my RComps on the bottom of the car.

An added bonus is that OEM 18" rears will clear the Stoptech 380mm front brake kit, at least according to the measurements with the template. OEM 18" front's won't.

I'm now thinking of getting a pair of OEM 18" rears for the front to run 255/35 and then run 275/35 in the rear. Not sure which tire to try yet... I really liked the Kumho Ecsta MXs, but they dicontinued them. They performed almost as well as R-Comps but never complained about it like the PS2s.

is there any way to double check this before i purchase the brake kit? Thanks.

I thought the issue with BBK clearance and OEM 18s was the inner diameter of the wheel was too small?

I would be awesome if the Stoptechs will work with the OEM 18x9.5 wheel!

I dutifully glued the ST template from the ST Website to a piece of cardboard, cut it out and tried it. The template, that I measured with care, clears the rims and the balance weights on the OEM 18" rears. I have quite a collection of 18" rims and the OEM rears are the only 18" rims I have that clear the 380mm Stoptech template. THE 18" OEM FRONT RIMS DON'T CLEAR.

Download your own, cut it out and try it - YMMV but I doubt it.

Thanks for the info. Does the Stoptech BBK clear the front rims as far as the inner diameter? If so, a spacer should allow the front wheels to clear.

The ST 380mm BBK does not clear the front OEM 18" rims.

Anyone know if the stock 18" fronts will fit another BMW? Maybe the non-M 3 E9x?

So I take it that front OEM 18" and rear 18"s have a different inner diameter? going to print and glue a stoptech template soon.
