18" rear tires

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
None
Item Interest
Pair of 265/40-18 BMW rated michelin PS2's. I bought them with a few hundred miles on them from an m3 owner in this forum. I never mounted them. I'm noticing that the load rating that I need for my porsche is XL which these tires are not....

So, $300 picks the pair up. I'm in NNJ right by NYC.

OEM rears (97Y SL). I measured them around 7 to 7.5mm depth, so they are at least at 9/32nds, perhaps I'm measuring a bit wrong, they look quite new. I have no reason to believe that they have any damage or more than several hundred miles on them.

If they were 101Y XL, I would be putting them on my porsche. I could probably get away with just putting these on making sure my psi's don't drop, but the cayman is such a precise car that I'm thinking I should take no chances. It is beyond me how the light cayman (even with the rear bias in weight) needs extra load tires while the M does not.

Here are some pics:

Sale cancelled for now. I mounted them, and they feel fine on the cayman. I doubt the 97Y vs. 101Y is going to matter for my street purposes. If for some reason, they feel floaty or otherwise not right, I will relist for a lower price.

Thanks for the interest and sorry for bothering everyone.
