Hamilton DQ'd from Aussie GP

Lewis Hamilton has been disqualified from the Australian GP. The stewards of the race have made this decision after reviewing all of the evidence available to them, about the incident between Hamilton and Trulli. Both the driver and the team had provided misleading information to the stewards in the post race hearing, when discussing the matter of Trulli overtaking Hamilton.

The FIA Stewards deemed that the McLaren Team and Hamilton "acted in a manner prejudicial to the conduct of the event by providing evidence deliberately misleading to the Stewards".

Here are some of the facts. Immediately following the race, Hamilton gave some interviews to the press. In one of those interviews he said that the team had told him on the radio to let Trulli pass him. An hour later, during the hearing, Hamilton and his team manager were questioned as to whether there was a radio transmission from the McLaren team to Hamilton instructin him to allow Trulli past. Both Hamilton and David Ryan (McLaren Team Manager) insisted that there were no communications like that. Hamiton was adamant that had not allowed Trulli to pass.

The radio exchanges made by the team to Hamilton were listened to by the Stewards. And their conclusion is that twice on the radio, McLaren told Hamilton to allow Trulli to pass. Then an hour later, they went to the FIA and bald-faced lied to them about what Hamilton had done.

Full Decision from the FIA

And that right there is why I have never liked the McLaren team. Bunch of folks with very little integrity. This event and the spy saga of last year, make me loathe that team.

And furthermore, lying to the stewards of the race in your first race as world champion is not what I would expect from a "World Champion". Hamilton is a major loser in my eyes now.

hahhahaa.... I've been an Alonso fan since his Minardi days, so I hold some bitterness to McLaren. I love it when they shit on themselves, the bunch of arrogant asses.

Here is the radio transmission. Around 40 seconds in you hear McLaren tell Hamilton to let the Toyota through.

It's called rules and regulations. If you break the rules, you have to be punished for it. Pretty plain and simple.

I'm not saying its wrong, I'm just saying its a shame.

The Aussie GP was a fantastic spectacle. First we see Trulli on the podium, then we see Hamilton promoted to third, and now we see Hamilton disqualified! My point is simply that its a shame that events OFF the track put a damper on the exciting stuff we see ON the track.

I agree though, rules are rules

Call me dumb but it sounds like Lewis was advised by the team to let Trulli through, clearly there was a lot of confusion and being so near the end of the race it's understandable not wanting to get the decision wrong. If I had have been in Lewis's shoe I would have done exactly what the team advised without question.

They also said they were checking with Charlie Whiting, now if that is correct then I am struggling to see how Lewis and McLaren got disqualified.

This is FIA shitting of McLaren and Hamilton all over around.

Oh, so the FIA forced McLaren to give different information in the Stewards hearing an hour after the race?

McLaren bald-faced lied to the FIA. They need to take their lumps.

McLaren ... it's british for Integrity

No I am not saying that at all, only highlighting that Lewis as a team player is doing what the team boss demands. If you have a wild card (no matter who they are) disobeying commands then the team as a whole will go down in flames.

If Lewis lied then I would reckon it was not his intention but more a case of saying what he was told to say by the team.

So that means the top 3 teams from last year start the season with 0 points
and one race down.
I love it! It will make watching all more interesting.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Ferrari requested McLaren/Hamilton get disqualified, after all they basically run the FIA it seems.

A simple case of Ferrari getting no points so their main rivals have to lose their points too.

I don't think Jean Todt has a seat on the WMC anymore.
