Does the Toyota nose remind anyone else of this?
I am so disapointed at how ugly the 09 cars are..
The Toyota is by far the ugliest though ![]() ![]() while the Williams and BMW are not too bad What is up with those huge ass front spoilers ... Looks a the cars are dragging a tray .. Let's not even mention how out of place and ugly the tiny rear wings are ... Guess we have to get used to it, and hopefully it's a matter of function over form and the racing gets more interesting with more overtaking.. What do you guys think? ![]() ![]() |

No resemblance at all. Looks fine to me.
![]() Also, I'ts design is a matter of function, not cosmetics.

I don't care what they have to do the rest of the car. Having slick tires back on an F1 car makes the '09 the best looking F1 car since 1997. Personally, I will accept anything just to have them slick tires back on the cars.
In my opinion the shape of the body isn't that bad. The sidepods look sleek. the nose is what it is. Yes the wings look lame. But, it is what it is. For me F1 is an ever changing sport that brings new solution for problems presented by the rule makers. Form = function, and if the car is fast and can win, then it is pretty by definition. Yeah it is. But things can't stay the same forever. I thought these cars were pretty too: ![]() But the rules don't allow it. So instead I accept the cars for what they are.

That Mclaren has enough blades hanging off it you could mistake it for a rolling Ginsu commercial. All we need is Hamilton to jump out of it in pit lane with some produce straight into an infomercial.
If anything, their beauty stems from function not form. |

it's all in perception
Back when I cheered for Ferrari, The Right Honourable Michael Schumacher won his first championship for the italian house in the first car in the picture... whose nose isn't that far off from the toyota... at the time it was an evolution of the interpretation of the rules over a few years. It was "it".
The next year, Ferrari came up with another winning car, the F2001 (that's when they stopped trying hard to name them); a car that I thought always reminded me of a tongue... my extremely deficient montage should illustrate... top left is aggressive nose, all others are the tongue from the year after... the black is from back when Giovanni Agnelli passed away.

The black nosed car is the one Ferrari did as a tribute to the 9/11 attacks. The Italian GP @ Monza was held just a few days after the attacks. Ferrari felt it necessary to show their support for the US by adopting that livery for the race. I personally have always felt that was an amazing thing for them to do, and I will always remember it. Agnelli passed away in 2003. Ferrari named their 2003 contender after him, the 2003-GA.

![]() Usually, I don't like these kinds of racing cars, but the picture of car posted by xbook seems to be beautiful and well conditioned ![]()

didn't they paint the gear box cover black after GA passed away though? and also rename the new car? I seem to have a clear image of a ferrari with a black cover in my mind... but then again, old age. anyways, thread hijacked... I used to think the benetton back then was purty... now I loko at it and it looks ugly... the same thing happens with road cars...
