No, they don't last ten or fifteen years, particularly on white and silver cars.

2. Congested City - leads to higher chances of accidents! especially with the Gardiner, 401 and major regional highways we have around toronto!
I know even in summer there is a lot of cars on the road, but there is less chances of some idiot who makes a miscalculation and crashes into your new m3

3. If you drive a vert, its a fact over time the seals in the roof will start to detoriate and the car will develop wind noises and creaks...as per the shop foreman at my dealer.

So in the end if i have a second car to drive why not?
I rest my case

I see your point, and I even agreed with everything you said you up until the line above...
I can give you 1 good reason as to why not. You bought the car to enjoy it, and you bought the car to use it. The way I see it is, I rather enjoy it for 3-5solid years , (at its prime, before it is outdated by the newest and greatest), rather than use it for half a year only for 10-15 years.. I didn't drive my car for about a month this winter, and it was pretty damn hard and I realized after...what a waste to let it sit in the garage!

You DO indeed cite some good reasons not to own a 'vert. Those things will happen no matter what you do AND it weighs a bunch more.
Dave
I am telling you those things as they apply to us here in Canada!

maybe the weather isnt so bad for you whereever, you live!
colorado? or wherever?

Just ask people from buffalo, kitchener, london (ontario), and they will tell you how severe the weather gets here!
they dont just call us the great white north for no reason!

Well no one said half a year?
By next week, I should be good to use the M3 up until the end of november!
Thats 8 months approx?
(Give and take the nice days through the year like last week)

I think I'll probably put more mileage in those 8 months then you or mr. dave would put in a year!
and my reasons for not driving in the winter are valid!
So for 4 months I can afford to drive my other cars, the lexus gs300 or before it was the 745Li, which I sold a few years ago. or my company cars etc.

Trust me I enjoy the M3 way more, like this because it builds anticipation and the excitement factor is just phenomenal!

and when did I say I keep cars for 10-15yrs???
I will probably pick something else up in the next 2 years...and then keep the m3 as a winter beater

P.S. ok i would never do that to the m3

To answer, your question all my cars have clear bras installed.

and since my m3 is AW I have the front bumper, hood, and the side mirrors too!

IMO a wise investment!

Yes... it's not really an option in Canada (literally!)

I don't know what I would do without heated seats - but the windshield washers I could do without.

By the way... the photos above were taken after the snow that fell overnight - the day before it was sunny and NO SNOW on the ground. That all fell overnight!

Still for some reason (even though I love places like Florida, Arizona, and CA) I wouldn't change it for anything!

Luckily I had a 4.8is X5 for winter last few years since the winters in Toronto have been brutal.
Luckily moved down south for a few years, so the M3 will not see winter for a little while.

I drove my M all last winter and plan to do the same this year. A good set of snow tires and some common sense and snow not a problem. Even though I'm extremely particular about the vehicle, it's meant to be driven year round IMO.
