Exclamation Michelin Tyres on my 2008 M3 prematurely worn?

Just wondering here.

5 days ago, i picked up my ex-demonstrator 2008 M3 Coupe.
The car had done 5000kms during it's use as a demo and has a full set of Michelin Tyres.

Is lack of actual tread on the outside of the tyre considered normal? Because theres virtually none left, especially on the rears. The inside isn't too bad, its just on the outside.

Whats the deal with this? Is this normal with Michelin Tyres? I only picked it up it a week ago, i don't want to be replacing tyres just yet!

I have the same issues. THe rear outside seems to be wearing a lot more.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

as far as i know thats normal. I would have to see your tires but the outside section has relatively little tread compared to the center section grooves which are there to remove water to avoid hydroplaning. the outside section is like this for improved handling, being the most important section holding you to the road in cornering.

considering that your car was a demo, im sure it was thrashed a bit before you got it (sorry to say), and that would likely include someone burning up your rubber.
