New X-pipe by Fabspeed, 15Hp Gained
I just picked my car today with a new X-pipe installed by Fabspeed here in the East coast. Fabspeed specialized in tuning high end European sport cars like Porsche, Ferrari, and etc. they are looking into BMW now. Joe from Fabspeed worked on my M3 exhaust system in the past weeks, trying to find ways squeezing more power from the M3. We have looked at many options, and decided to replace the X-pipe at this stage. Fabspeed's X-pipe will eliminate the second catz and resonator. Everything else we kept it stock including the muffler, so no engine light issue. Our dyno'd showned 15-16hp gain at the wheel, which is more than what i expected. I have to say Fabspeed done a very nice job in designing and making great power increase, and keeping the noise at a manageable level. The car felt more responsive and quicker after 2-3k RPM. The exhaust tones are more aggressive, slightly louder, and it doesn't drone. The sound level pretty much unchanged at cruising, the sound different only comes alive when I push harder on the gas paddle.
Sorry, I don't have a good pic of the pipe coz i only got pics on the ground, but i am sure Fabspeed will post some pictures and video on their website in the coming weeks with pricing info. www.fabspeed.com |

Fabspeed has a good rep when it comes to Porsche exhaust pieces.

That photo shows it's a much shorter piece than the AA pipes. The Fabspeed pipe appears to be the center section only, the stock cats are still in place up front. The AA pipes are from the headers back. So the Fabspeed pipes should be a lot cheaper, though by leaving the forward cats in place they probably don't result in the same gains as AA.

This looks like a bolt on mod on the rear end as they are using the stock clamps to hook up to the muffler. I can't see the connection at the front end though. If that is bolt on as well, this would be the exact thing I've been wishing for: leaving the primary cats in place and deleting the secondary cats and resonators. The sensor is suppoesed to be right after the primary cats, so messing with the stuff after that should not throw any codes. If it is indeed priced at $500, I'd go for it.

This mod shouldn't cost more than $500 at any decent exhaust shop. It's not big deal to them.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

Great news guy. I just spoke to the people at Fabspeed. They are uploading the video in their website, should be available shortly. In terms of the pricing, i think it will be very attractive to all M3 owner.
