OEM Resonators

What exactly do the resonators do and why are they there? What happens to the sound if you remove them? Do they inhibit exhaust flow?

As of now I was under the impression they help eliminate any drone? Will the system be any louder if you eliminate them, or possibly just drone a bit more?

We have an SS X-pipe outside the shop in the snow shoot Ilia a pm if you want it. I think the Eisenmann Sport will sound amazing with a resonator delete.

What's it doing in the snow?

Resonators are there to quiet the exhaust..... They restrict the exhaust flow slightly but not as much as a cat or anything.... Problem is deleting them leads to more rasp and drone in the exhaust than deleting a cat. But if you got the SS x it would probably be ok since your still keeping the front cats.

I'm thinking AA has the right designed X-Pipe cause it still includes resonators, but man $2k is a lot of money.

Yea thats why you either

A) just delete your cats on your piping now and add an x pipe (exhaust shop will do it for like 200$

B) Just go on ebay and buy some resonators about 50$ and a Stainless x pipe ~ 35$ and have an exhaust shop build you one from scratch ~200-300$ in labor and piping if you don't want to hack up your stocker

It is not that simple to just shove an X pipe in there. Useless if you are not going to test and optimize it.

Better to leave it alone and just change the muffler. Why waste all the time and effort and then no increase in performance.

I removed mine and there is no drone at all. The only difference I noticed was that it was a bit more "raspy". It does not bother me at all. In fact, I like the sound now.

Not true..... by simply getting rid of the cats you will gain HP... an X pipe isnt rocket science.... i mean yea if you optimized the placement of the x pipe you would gain more HP but maybe 1hp or 2... nothing major...... A member actually went to an exhaust shop did an H pipe (what i might do) and from software, h pipe, deleting the cats (in the stock piping) , gained 90 rear wheel TQ .....

That is fucking amazing. Dyno? Pictures of the setup. I am dying to hear an H pipe as opposed to an X pipe.
