I had the pleasure of flogging one of those with R Comps on it a few times while instructing at an autocross. Beastly car that sounded incredibly mean. It has the M5 v8 in it. It did handle heavily (not heavenly) though. It's more suited for the track, due to the weighted feel, even though it's only a couple hundred pounds more than our 1ers.

Thats the James Bond car for your information. Most of us are BMW enthusiasts so we can answer your questions.

It's actually one of 3 BMW cars featured in Bond movies when BMW had the product tie-in agreement. The other two were the Z3 in Goldeneye (a whole lot of hype for ~10 seconds of screen time), and the E38 7 series in Tomorrow Never Dies.

I'm pretty sure I read that those had neon-lit taillamps?

Is it just Z8 owners who think they can park in front of fire hydrants?

Looks like the original BMW Z8 with the stock 18" wheels, not the later, Alpina edition Z8 with the 20" Alpina wheels:

My neighbor has one. I drool every time I see it out of the garage.
