George Carlin dead at 71

Very, very sad. Whatever you might have thought of his politics he was an American comedy legend, a cultural icon, a national treasure. As a young boy, I first saw George Carlin on the Ed Sullivan Show in the early 60's, an instant life-long fan was created. Rest in peace, dear George, where ever you are.

We are very sad,
I too loved his humour!
I will miss him.
I hope he is in heaven driving a new 135i and no speed limits.

My son was watching Cars this weekend and we heard Carlin as Fillmore. Then he watched Thomas the Tank Engine and there was Carlin again. He's been a part of the American landscape for so long that he crosses many generations. Truly unique and certainly will be missed.
The 1-series is compact, endlessly involving, and absurdly fast...It is also more fun than a caffeinated circus monkey. - Automobile.

Crimson Red/Terra 135i, delivered 4/19/08, traded in 9/8/08. Recovering addict, still a fan.

too bad. I discovered him from my parent's record collection back in the 70's. I still think that was his best era, compared to his very bitter old man period this century.

Cheers to the Hippy Dippy Weatherman!! "you with the beads.. out of line!!!"

Discovered him myself as a kid in the early 80s on HBO... Carlin at Carnegie. Later on, I was lucky enough to see him perform live. Truly a brilliant guy with such a unique, consistent voice that it's strange to think of the world without him now. Here's to George. :drinking:

He was a comedy treasure, and a true storyteller. He will be missed.

I remember a bit that he did on people that should 'not be allowed', where he referred to people that have creases in their jeans and people that wear loafers with no socks... LOL... RIP

I almost never agreed with his politics, but I loved to listen to him. He made me laugh since I was a teenager. When the seven words was released, thats all we could talk about at school. I just saw his latest live stand-up on HBO in March. He talked about aging and being an old fart. He was still at the top of his game. Certain people hit you hard when you hear of their passing. John Candy was another one that made me feel that way. George Carlin was an original.

I'll miss him. RIP man.
