That would be awesome if it was the base engine for the Z4. Whether its in this gen is up in the air...i'd guess not.

Oh, I think we'll see the N54 offered up right away upon introduction. What I'm also hoping is that the wizards at BMW can get the N53 US compliant.
And Barry, you were talking about all of us Z4 owners...there will be one less in March 008 - but man, I think this new one is looking awesome-
if it looks this good in a fat-suit...imagine what's under the skin.

The full-front 3/4 view is awesome- the thing looks predatory- it absolutely owns the road.

I totally agree man! I looked at these for about 10min yesterday. Its like a BIG SHARK. It would be so unappropriate for me to want one right now...Ughh. Its like cheating on the 135i.

You can see that this is the next evolution of BMW design...takes a lot from the CS-Concept and actually improves on it.
+ Less brutal more lethal. Headlights look much more interesting that the CS's Aston-Martin-like housing.
Even under the fatsuit you can see the grille is better proportioned than the CS and the wheel bulges ala the Mazda RX8
are a new step and integrate well with BMW's aesthetic.
Interesting to see BMW give a tip-o-the-hat to Mazda. Looks like 18's on front and 19's or 20's on the back.

- The only awkward thing I see is how big the lenses are on the side-view mirrors- surely that should be a thinner light strip.

Hell of a great looking car- Wonderful to see BMW, again, take it to the next step - to keep it out there in edge city. Super confident statement by Bangle&Co.
Right now, I think this is the flagship of the company.
Put the Z4/X6/1-er coupe together and you've got the winning trifecta for the most interesting new models for 2008-009.
BMW dealerships will be rockin' with $.

This my 911th post - hello to friends in the greatest city on the earth.

Do I know for sure...no.
But, N54 is the future breadwinner for BMW. I think it'll be there from the get-go. Logic and market forces are in alignment ; it simply makes sense and why do otherwise (what other option is most applicable) for at least one of the powerplant choices?

I would imagine it'll be a perfectly mated powerplant to the Z's chassis...tho God knows what this beast is going to tip the scales at now that it's been decided there will be a folding metal roof and that the car has obviously gotten bigger.
