Where can I find a shift boot? need shift boot options

Hey all,

I am not in love with the long standard shift knob on my m3. I have the shorty OEM ZHP shift knob off an e46 330 6 speed which is weighted and feels much nicer shifting than the lighter, taller factory m3 knob.

My issue, is that the factory knob is connected to the shift boot in 1 piece of leather. I need a separate shift boot.

I dont want to cut the boot off my factory shift knob. The normal e90 shift boot is MUCH larger than the m3 console so that will not work either.

Im not looking for anything fancy. Just a factory looking shift boot. Also, the m3 shift boot leather is nice, soft and smooth where as the standard e90 leather boot has a lot more grain to it.

Any ideas? I was looking in my ETK at work and it seems like there is no OEM m3 shift boot that comes without the knob. Seems like Im forced to go aftermarket....

235 dollars for a shift boot is a little crazy- just a little.....

I can buy a new bmw shift boot with shift knob for less than that.

Im surprised that the 'm3' boot is 2 times the cost of every other boot on there.

Its the "M" tax. Don't u see everyone else charging it. $1500 intakes and $3000 mufflers. Sad thing is everyone still buys it, so they just keep charging it.

Funny to me that your suprised at the price especially when you work for BMW! I know you get a discounted price working for BMW on BMW parts, but remember everyone else is paying those higher prices for parts & services that you get your customers to spend their money on.

Also, LeatherZ is a very small & Well respected company! As you mentioned, "M" cars have a different leather, thus the difference in price. They do all the work themselves, which is an art in itself, and seem to be the ONLY company that does leather work for our cars & sell them on-line. Yes you can take your request to an upholstry shop & they can probably get you what you want, but don't be suprised to pay similar for the same quality in work & in material!

For a snap in plug and play boot ~250 is not that bad if you have been in the car modding community. Especially with nice leather and alcantra with custom stitching. You obvioulsy have no clue lol

Send a message via AIM to King Tut
I plan on just sending them my stock boot in since I already cut the OEM knob off to run the ZHP knob. It is still kind of expensive, but the Alcantara will be worth it.
