UnderPowered M3...
I have just Dynoed my M3 in a very respected local Tuning Shop with years of expertise in BMW M engines. What i came across is a Pathetic 322 Whp with BMC Air Filter and Rear ACS Export Exhaust. The Dyno was in 4th gear....but i really dont get it...How come everyone in this forum have a average standart 330 + Whp Stock and me on the other hand have so much less...I could really use you comments here guys...Thank you in advance....

There's a number of reasons for low numbers on the dyno. My 350z put out the lowest numbers on a dyno day with a bunch of others, and I pulled them on the street. ECU's do some crazy things, dealing with weather, temps, gear, etc....

I will post some pictures of the BMC Later on....I believe you might be correct guys...It may also have a lot to do with the fuel i used on the Dyno...or a number of other reasons..But the thing remains...That 322 whp was not actually my baseline. The car was equipped with BMC Filter(It showed 4 whp difference) ACS Export rear mufflers(I had them on so i cant really figure out any hp difference) and Rpi Air Scoops(They send me 2 right ones so i needed to modify the one so i can convert it into left.I did install the Correct one on this Dyno...i am one short.Later on the week it will be installed too.)I used 95 oct fuel...But i really dont trust fuel measurment here in Greece.
Main Question is....What is really the Average Whp on M3 E9X??? |

Fill it up with 98 RON, drive it for a day and then dyno it again, I wouldn't be surprised to see a 10-15WHP gain... |

I was at 333whp on a dyno dynamics stock. 338 with the RPi scoops. I had a Remus race exhaust but I'm almost positive I lost 10+ wtq in the low end (very noticeable).

In some places in Europe you may find 100 RON, makes a small difference. |

Why the BMC over AFE? Any particular reason?

What I don't get is why the avg is 330 with 414 at the crank, I though the avg was much higher than that? I mean at those losses are greater than those experienced by the N54. No chance the //M is losing a larger percentage of power from the crank to the wheels. Just can't be
Sorry to go OT..... Cheers, e46e92

I wouldn't fret over the dyno results.
I had a 97 M3 and got it from 189 whp to 264 whp with all sorts of mods, all n/a. I did all my work at the same place and used the same dyno for the tuning and measurements. Well, we had a dyno day at another local shop and my car made WAY less hp than several others that just had an intake. I would smoke those guys with no problem on the road, but on THAT dyno, my car made less hp than their cars...and even much less than it did on the Mustang dyno. Thus, even though I know my car had more hp than the stock cars, the dyno did not show that! lol. It made me question dyno's in general. They aint the end-all. So, don't fret about it. The real measurement is how you stack up against another car on the road/track, not the dyno.
