New Lens - Canon EF 300 f4L USM Pics!

So I after going through my bag, I realised I'm lacking some longer lenses so I cam across a fantastic deal on this beauty. Glass in amazing condition and a few cosmetic marks. All came in at £360/about $520 which for something of this calibre, not bad at all!

Just after unpacking it.

First shot out of the window as a car was driving past. No processing.

Shot of the moon. Quick contrast adjustment.

Congrats. The IS version of this lens has remained one of my favorites for years. I use it almost constantly for wildlife when long hikes are involved, and the non-IS you have is reputed to be even sharper. Enjoy it.

I heard a lot of good reviews for the IS version but after a quick random search on Photography on the net, it was a steal. I needed something longer and this fits in well.

Will have to wait till tomorrow morning. Cant wait.

I've heard of many people taping white lenses like these with Gaffers. Have you done that yet?

EDIT: Like this

Nah no need. There are made like that for a reason so I keep it as it. Main reason, reflect unwanted heat.

He was a street performer.

He started off just on the ladder and was about to start juggling with blades. Temp was about -2 degrees Celsius tiday and to get a bigger reaction out of the crowd, he took his top off. He was also wearing a kilt and got rid of that before juggling on that 10ft ladder.`

why would one tape their L lens like that.... wow. They make neoprene lens covers in black that cover 90%+ of the white on L lenses and they protect the lens from heat, dampness, and small dings.

For most people, its cheaper to use black tape.

I can see one reason is to hide what you have from people who might know what you have but personally since I normally shoot with a group of people, I never have had any issues. Does stand out a bit in a sea of Noinks.
