Did you see the video of it at the drag strip where it destroyed its transmission?

The GTR is not reliable when stock. I can't imagine tuning the thing. Half life must be 3-4 hours.

This is why they should have offered a true manual.

After over 100+ launches of 600+whp, Samurai Speed finally found the limits of the GT-R's transmission!
Over a hundred launches with a modified engine producing over 150whp more then stock is pretty damn amazing to me!

I can't imagine a DCT M3 lasting too long with 500+whp and launching over 100 times.

But of course, it's the GT-R! It's supposed to last forever with 1000WHP!

lol over 100 hard launches, there goal was to see the limit of the tranny. if they had m3 with that much HP, i dont even think itll last over 50 hard launches. sidenote, GTR made for the track not the dragstrip

+100

The car was also running drag radials as most of the launches were made at the track and the most important factor is dismissed and ignored in most posts, TORQUE, 746. This will kill any transmission.

The GTR gearbox issues is definately an overblown matter thanks to the internet and its trolls

The M3 would probably do better after 100 launches, because its computer decides when you can launch

The GT-R doesn't have this type of protection

hahahaha I don't see any ZO6's with crapped out trannys running 10's

I'm sorry but last time I checked the guys at AMS, Buschur racing, Norris Design etc... weren't having serious transmission issues and they were making plenty more than this GT-R, granted... it was a built one but still not even at a fraction of the cost to rebuild a stock transmission out of a GT-R

AMS isn't using a stock transmission. It's using a modified one built just for drag racing and drag racing only. Do you know how much a Shepherd Racing Dog Box tranny costs? How can you make the assumption that it is a "fraction" of the cost of a GT-R transmission?

Z06s do not have to worry about the high stress of AWD which are known to induce much more stress on the transmission then FWD/RWD setups.

Oh and GTFO of GT-R threads unless you know what the hell you are talking about.

The zO6 doesn't have to worry about the stress of AWD but it does have to deal with the stress of a hard launch with slicks on the rear diff, rear end fanboi. I am aware that the AMS EVO is not running a stock transmission, I didn't just pull up the fastest damn AWD car I could find, I could have pulled up Buschurs... maybe even called up Jarod Buschur for a statement? Or would you rather I not?

The type of power the zO6 makes and the fact that it doesn't have AWD to stick the launch but can still break tens with slicks is a feat in it self. Especially considering it doesn't need 600AWHP, it needs the stock load. And before you go blabbing about GTFO out this and that, slicks with a RWD car and a hard launch can do big damage to rear end/ diffs...

A stock replacement transmission for a GTR is almost $20,000... and it cannot handle the power, this GTR blew its trans drag racing. Hence the drag car I introduced, I can assure you it is a fraction of the fucking cost. And if you would like to talk about an equal HP EVO, a shep S2 transmission can indeed handle a similar load 500-600whp and 10.5+ second passes. So before you go get all e-tough make sure the person youre trying to e-push around really IS an idiot. Go home fuck box.
