DCT: shifting into neutral then back in gear while driving?

Is it possible to shift into neutral while in gear and moving? This was possible with the E46 SMG. All you had to do was pull both paddle shifters.

One way is to just slap the stick into neutral, but your foot can't be on the gas. I've also read recently that shifting into neutral does not save you gas when coasting to a stop vs being in gear because modern cars can detect the situation and will cut off gas anyways.
