Brembo brake clearance question

I recently had the brembo bbk installed and the bulkiest part of the caliper is only about 2-2.5mm away from the valve stem. Attached are two pics of what I mean. The pics are not that clear because my camera sucks but I hope you guys can get an idea of how much clearance there is. Do you think this is enough space between the caliper and the stem or would you guys recommend getting flush mount valve stems? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Yeah, that wouldn't be good enough for me, too close for comfort. The last thing you hear is "sssshhhh", before going agricultural.

2mm is way to little. the brake will definitely expand when hot.

I can't figure out what the picture is or where it's taken from. I don't see what the problem is.

What am I missing?

2mm isnt enough imo... wheels flex.. things get hot.. its not unlikely that 2mm could turn into -2mm...

then u got a major problem...

I just measured the clearance between the highest point on the front caliper and the valve stem and it is 5mm. Do you guys think that is okay? Thanks in advance!

2mm changed into 5mm....? or u never really measured it to begin with...


5mm is prob fine...

It's not as if your calipers will simply scrape the rim or pick up a balance weight or something if there is contact. If it catches the valve stem at high speed on a bumpy track, you might be screwed. Why risk it? Why not take care of it?

What kind and size wheels are those anyway?

OK - now I get it! The valve stem is a tube that goes through from the outer wheel mesh to the middle of the rim before it enters the rim barrel. It seems like a crazy design to me.

All it would take is a piece of gravel getting inside the rim and sliding along until it gets caught between the caliper and the valve stem and you'd lose all your air in a hurry. That could happen at low speed on a driveway just as easily as driving fast somewhere.

Hey guys,

The front caliper clears the valve stem by 5mm and the rear clears it by 2mm. I already ordered flush mount valve stems for the rear and was wondering if I should do it for the fronts as well. I hear it is just a pain to check tire pressure and add air if needed on flush mounts.

The rims are 19 inch HRE 590R
