I thought first service for anything was at 1200 miles, but my car keeps telling me that I need to have my oil changed at 700 miles even though the meter has it at completely full.

mmmmmmmmmmm. It MAY be telling you how long you have to go UNTIL you need to change the oil.

When you get close to a scheduled maintenance, the car will keep giving you a warning to do it. When you first start the car, look at where the odometer is, usually. You will see a mileage number which is the countdown to the next service. If it is a positive number, then that is the mileage until you are due for service. If the number is negative, that is the amount you are overdue!

I imagine yours is just telling you that in about 700 miles, you are due for service. Mine started showing up at about 500 miles to go, I think.

mine started popping up at 400 and 500.. but im taking in it tomorrow.. im at 1150

your 50 miles away, you will be charged for the service

thanks yea I went back and checked and its just giving me a warning for the 1200 mile service, I just misunderstood it.

No worries. I freaked out too when I saw it. My SA explained it to me. I did not recall reading about that in the manual, but I bet it is there. I prolly skipped over that part.

Mine never even said I needed 1200 mile service but I took it in at 1210... and I pushed it hard but kept it at or below 5500 rpm throughout the break-in.

mine gave me the warning at 800 but when you start the car it showed 500 to go before really needing service.

My car is telling me oil service is due with 800 miles on it. the mileage countdown says I still have 600 miles to go before the break in service is required.

I'm taking it in tomorrow for a check (he said this was done by reading the info on the key fob.

While I'm there they will also be looking at a faulty ambient light in the passenger door and more importantly, they will update me M-DCT software.
