UUC SSK Installed - Page 2

Ok, here are some pictures. First two pics are the stock shifter in first gear. Next two are during disassembly. Next four are pics of the underside. You can see the black plastic shield that comes off. The aluminum heat shield has been shifted back for access. Not a lot of access but enough. Last set is the new shifter installed. First and then second gear.

rawedge2 just got this SSK...he let me drive it and i must say it is a substantial difference. i loved it....IMO this is a MUST for all m3 owners

Can I assume since the UUC SSK is "compatible" with BMW illuminated shift knobs if you reuse the OEM knob it will still glow when the lights are on?

Yup. The original knob went right back on. I never even disconnected the wires. Lights up just fine.

I just ordered this today, couldn't stand the long rubbery throws any longer. Hopefully the install isn't too bad. I'm capable of changing brake pads and alternators, I'm counting this won't be much harder.

Did you set the new shifter to stock height or did you lower it (and if so, by how much?)

Active claims that a plastic ball would eliminate resonance through the shaft. So does UUC's design (w/ metal ball) cause more vibration in the shifter?

I've got the UUC Evo 3 in my E46, there was no increased vibration.
