No. of hours to install springs?

Spoke to my local dealer today about installing a set of Eibach springs and was quoted 8-9 hours of labor. So to those of you who have installed springs - how much labor did you incur for the installation?

TIA,
Barry

Around 3 hours is normal with BMW's, just because the rear suspension springs can be done in one hour both sides.

Personally, I do my rear springs myself and take the front strut assemblies to any auto shop for them to replace the springs as I do not have any spring compressors. The last time (E46 M3) that I did that I paid $42.00 total for the front springs installation and $90.00 for alignment afterwards.

Thanks guys - I appreciate the feedback. I almost fell out of my chair when the SA said it would take 8 hours!

So is the front strut assembly similar to the E46 assembly in that you can remove the strut and springs without taking the lower part of the suspension completely apart? Also, are the rear springs separate from the strut assembly (again like the E46) which is why they can be removed by hand? On the E46, you can eliminate the load on the spring by disconnecting the strut from the lower assembly.

I haven't had my car on a lift so I have no idea regarding the suspension on this car thus my questions.

Thanks again,
Barry

i'm going to do mine soon. just gotta figure out what springs or coilover to buy. i've worked on e90/e92 and got them done in 1.5 hours max. i dont think it should any different. 8-9 hours is a rip off.

I ultimately went to an independent BMW shop and they charged me for 4 hours at $75 per hour instead of 9 hours at $110!

I'm surprised your dealer would even consider putting aftermarket parts on your car. I tried to get mine to install exhaust on my E46 and they wouldn't have anything to do with it. Where did you end up taking the car? I'm in NC too...

Good luck!
