Lowering M3
I am thinking about lowering my M3 with the H&R spring .6R and 1.0F. Honestly doing this for looks. But I don't want to be negativly effecting my performance. I do plan to track the car soon, not to hard just some casual days at the track. I do drive it hard on the autobahn. I have EDC and usually leave it in Normal or Comfort.
So guys who have lowered there cars, can you tell me what you think of performance and comfort afterwards? If you have EDC and it still functions well, which brand of spring did you use? Thanx Guys |

Try reading this thread. It looks like the H&R springs work well with the EDC.

I've never modified just for looks, but if you are not concerned with the performance, wouldn't a body kit that extends lower ba a better choice?

he height is what it is for a reason. BMW did a lot of testing in their wind tunnel. Clearly height would be something they would optimize. I believe the M is higher than the 335 for a reason.

But I love the look of these dropped M3's on here. If there is a performance gain with the springs I think I will go for it. I would really like to here from some others with the springs. Anyway time to hit the autobahn ![]() |

It doesn't dont do a body kit, lowering your M is fine. EDC works great with H&R - no problems at all. First mod I did was lowering with H&R GO FOR IT!

I look into performance a lot more... I hardly do anythings for looks (except getting rid of the orange markers... they are ugly)... So forgive me if i say something stupid...
But can't you use bigger rims to close the wheel gap?

The overall diameter of the tires/wheels must be maintained to a certain degree. Otherwise DSC may not work effectively, if at all. Hence, bigger wheels usually require lower profile tires to maintain the overall diameter. Hence they wont close the gap.

I have done 7,000 mile on H&R's and the car still feels fantastic. Forget the looks the car rides and feels BETTER on the H&R springs, the looks are a bonus.
It was truly awesome round the ring. I hit 160mph in Germany and the car felt very planted and superb. I spent an hour between 110 and 150 mph, no issues at all, awesome set up. I can confidently load up the suspension at 120+mph which is normally a challenge for a road car.... |
