I had a guy come up to me today that owns a Shelby SVT mustang or whatever it is, he said man I can hear your supercharger from a mile a way, I said I don't have a supercharger, he argued with me about my OWN car for a good 10 minutes, I just let it go...they are really loud I agree....

Rear end clunk? E46's were known for it. I was surprised to hear it on the M3, but I guess it's nothing bad if they didn't fix it.

Yeah, I hear them too, most noticable downshifting to 1st at approximately 5 mph to drive up my driveway.

yeah I heard them too...it was kind of hard to explain to people not familiar with the car. i was in a parking lot at work and people asked me to "start it up let me hear that v8"....needless to say i think some of them were disappointed, but it was music to my ears.

Oh and those who were disappointed quickly changed their mind after a quick blast around the local roads during lunch.

Yes, I hear the exact same...usually when downshifting at slow speed. Is that normal? What is it? Sorry, if it's been answered above, but I've lost track of what noise is from what.

I think what you guys are hearing is just simply the gears whining.

Nothing more, nothing less.

I don't hear any whining. What I hear is a rattle or something when I am shifting at very low speed. Don't know how to describe it. Kind of like a box with rocks in it.
